Don’t Call Her an “IT” Girl

I mean, Zoe… You may not be an “It” girl yet, but you are certainly on your way there…

I love Zoe Kravitz.  First of all, when you come from one of Hollywood’s sexiest couples ever, you have to be pretty darn good looking… and she exceeded all expectations.  The girl is just gorgeous!

Kravitz, the oldest daughter of actress Lisa Bonet (who may be the only person Bill Cosby couldn’t tame) and sexy rock icon Lenny Kravitz, was born in 1988, a year after her parents got married.  Even though her parents’ love did not last, they may be one of my favorite couples ever.  Can you imagine what that closet was like when they lived together??

Zoe inherited her parents’ unique sense of style, accompanied with their free spirit approach to life in general.  She made her way into my heart after she starred in Jay-Z’s “I Know” video, but many people fell in love with her laid back appearance and intruiging fashion sense.  Sites like CollgeFashion.Net have named her a fashion icon.

Despite the world’s love for her parents individualistic life styles, Zoe admitted in a recent interview with Asos Magazine that she was not a fan of their clothing choices when she was young.

“I used to be a little embarrassed by how she (mom Lisa Bonet) and my
dad (Lenny Kravitz) would dress…but now I steal their clothes all
the time.”

I would be in parents’ closets all of the time.  That’s a blessing in itself. Ummm… Jealous much?  But her extraordinary genes did not only give her an amazing eye for fashion, they also gave her talent.  Kravitz, who is starring in X-Men: First Class  as Angel Salvadore in theaters tonight, is an actress, singer, and model.  She studied at the acting conservatory at SUNY Purchase, and has starred in a number of films and television shows since.  In 2009, she started her band Elevator Fight, in which she sings the lead vocals.  The group has opened for The Roots and played at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival, which I must go to before I kick the bucket.  When she is not singing or acting, she is modeling.  You may have seen in her in campaigns for Alexander Wang or may remember her from her work as the face of Vera Wang’s “Princess” perfume, one of my favorite scents.

Ok, the girl can act, sing, and model… So it’s hard to believe that she hates when people call her an “IT” girl.  But she hates it, indeed.  Here’s what she had to say to in her Asos Magazine interview:

“All that ‘it girl’ shit makes me kind of uncomfortable. I’m only at
the beginning of my career, but I feel successful in that I haven’t
sold out in any way, shape or form. I feel good about the choices
I’ve made, and I don’t feel like I’ve let go of any of my values.
Fame has become this obsession for people, which kind of creeps me
out.”

She’s so freakin’ cool man.  I truly love her, and I hope after I see this X-Men movie, she becomes one of my favorite actresses.  Here are the pics from her Asos Mag cover, which will be on news stands soon.

Welp Ms. Zoe, you have found a new fan.  Are you as obsessed with her as I am?!?  OW!!

Go see X-Men!  Support Zoe.  She’s only 22!

Stay Beautiful,

Gia
